Our oncologists specialize in treating cancer and blood disorders. We are here to help.
Medical oncology focuses on diagnosing cancer, developing a cancer treatment plan, and coordinating your overall cancer care. A medical oncologist utilizes chemotherapy and biological therapies to treat cancer. At Optim Oncology, we have highly trained Medical Oncologists and Oncology Certified Nurses who will manage your cancer treatment plan while monitoring and evaluating your treatment progress.
If you have a symptom or your screening test result suggests cancer, the first step is to schedule your initial consultation with a medical oncologist. The doctor will review your medical history and any tests that have already been performed, do a physical exam, and then the doctor may order additional lab tests, scans, or other tests or procedures in order to diagnose whether you have cancer, and if so, what type of cancer and where it’s located (stage).
Our oncologists also specialize in hematology. This is the field of medicine dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of blood diseases and disorders. Hematologists treat conditions within the red and white blood cells, platelets, lymph nodes, blood vessels, bone marrow, and the spleen. This includes Leukemia, Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, as well as various other forms of blood cancers.
Radiation therapy is a practice of medicine that uses high energy radiation to treat specific areas of the body affected by cancer. Unlike chemotherapy, radiation therapy is considered a local treatment. Our physicians use advanced treatment planning systems and state of the art technology to deliver treatment that is safer, faster, and more precise than ever.
